Unlike flow-through humidifiers that normally produce humidity for your home only when the furnace is calling for heat and the fan is running, the Desert Spring Rotary Disc Humidifier continues to humidify even while passing ambient air through the system.
Furnace operation is limited to times when the home has cooled below a certain set point. However, there may be several months during which there is very little requirement for heat, while your home humidity level may still be uncomfortably low. To improve control over your home’s humidity level, ideally the humidifier should work independently, without waiting for the heat to come on.
The patented Desert Spring Rotary Disc evaporative system provides an incredible 15 square feet of wet surface area which allows the humidifier to produce humidity even with room temperature air, albeit at a reduced level.
To take advantage of this feature, the humidifier needs an independent source of power and a humidity controller, both of which are supplied with the unit. A home owner can manually select the ‘fan’ setting on the home’s thermostat, or operate the furnace fan in continuous mode which also allows it to constantly filter the air inside the home resulting in a cleaner indoor environment.
Another important feature of the patented Rotary Disc evaporative system is that it does not absorb minerals, which allow it to provide a constant level of humidity without deterioration due to mineralization. The sturdy plastic discs are continuously cleaned by shedding minerals left behind from evaporation into the basin.
