New Referral Relationship
with Mr. Handyman of Canada
MISSISSAUGA, ON – Desert Spring Products Limited (“DSP”)
welcomes Mr. Handyman of Canada as an installation partner.
The referral relationship provides DSP with a highly qualified
installation service option for its DIY customers who may not
be comfortable completing a furnace-mount humidifier project
on their own. “Most contractors prefer to supply and
install the humidifier, which left consumers who purchased
our product through retail channels in a bind if they decided
the project was above their comfort level” says Peter
VanderPlaat, Desert Spring Products CEO. According to VanderPlaat,
the company sells approximately 10,000 humidifiers through
retail channels annually and a significant number of these
customers are not ready or willing to cut into their duct work,
or pierce a copper water line once they fully assess the scope
of the project.

Takes to the Air Waves
Company aims to maintain record growth
TORONTO On the heels of two back-to-back record growth years,
Desert Spring Products Limited (“DSP”) is focusing more resources
on consumer advertising to build awareness of its patented rotary
disc whole-home humidifier. “Over the past few years we have
concentrated on developing our distribution network through HVAC
contractors and home improvement retail outlets which has resulted
in approximately 500 points of presence in the traditional ‘heating
regions’ of the US and an additional 300 in Canada. This growing
network now forms a good base to supply consumer demand we expect
to generate from our stepped up advertising efforts this season,” said
Peter VanderPlaat, President and CEO, Desert Spring Products.

Company throws its support behind proposed EPA Water Conservation
Program.
Toronto, ON…In an effort to reduce the pressure on limited water
resources, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is
preparing to launch a national program to promote water-efficient
products to consumers. The EPA has taken the first steps toward
such a program by holding a series of stakeholder meetings across
the country to work out the most appropriate approach to what
has been dubbed the Water-Efficient Products Market Enhancement
Program. At the last meeting it was reported that Environment

Humidifier uses
disc technology
By Eric Lai
The benefits of maintaining proper indoor
humidity are many. But traditional furnace-mounted humidifiers
have drawbacks.
Rotating-foam-pad models are inexpensive,
but require frequent cleaning and disinfecting.
At the high end of the price scale, atomizing
units work well, but replacing clogged nozzles is expensive.
