Periodic Cleaning
Congratulations! You've purchased a Desert Spring Rotary Disc Humidifier, the most effective furnace-mount humidifier on the market. Humidifiers equipped with Auto-Flush™5, normally require only season end cleaning. Systems without Auto-Flush™5 require regular cleaning to manage minerals and ensure optimum air quality.
From a mineral management perspective the amount of cleaning depends on the mineral content of the evaporated water and how much humidity is required. Minerals would only need to be removed every month or two in most regions of North America..

Cleaning Procedures
To ensure the humidifier continues to perform at peak efficiency, follow these easy steps:

1. Turn the water source off at the saddle valve
2. Drain the humidifier basin
   • Without AUTO-FLUSH™5 system. Drain the water from the basin into a bucket using the built-in bottom drain
   • With AUTO-FLUSH™5 system. Activate the timer by pressing the TEST button.
3. Lift and remove plastic lid
4. Lift and remove wheel assembly out of the unit
5. With a sponge, remove any mineral build-up from the basin. Where minerals have hardened add a solution of white vinegar and water (1 cup vinegar + 1 cup water) to the bottom basin (drain cap on). Wait for an hour. This should dissolve most types of mineral build-up.
6. Drain the cleaning solution and wipe with a sponge. The wheel assembly may also be put into a vinegar/water solution to loosen minerals that may have built up on evaporative surfaces. The minerals can then be brushed and rinsed off. Wipe all surfaces and allow to air dry.
7. For extreme mineral build up you will require a more aggressive cleaning solution. (e.g. Lime-A-Way, C.L.R., Ka-boom, EnviroClean, etc.)
8. Re-install the wheel, replace cover, close the drain, turn on the water, and your system is ready to operate

Season End Maintenance
At the end of the humidification season conduct a thorough cleaning as outlined above. Turn off the water supply and disconnect the power to the humidifier by turning off the humidistat. If using Auto-Flush™5, simply unplug from the wall. Close the hot air supply damper. Your Desert Spring Humidifier is now ready to be reactivated for the next humidification season.
