Humidifier Performance |
Desert Spring Patented Rotary Disc Technology offers the world's best central air humidifier performance! Humidifiers are rated by an international ARI 610-96 Standard, which benchmarks performance in gallons per day based on using a constant input temperature of 120C. In reality, furnaces burn at different temperatures based on home construction and outside temperatures. These factors determine when your furnace will operate. Furnace operation is limited to times when the home has cooled below a certain set point. There are a few degrees of variance between when a furnace starts up and when it shuts down so that overall temperatures remain relatively constant. However, the need for humidity within the home is often not directly linked to how cold it is outside. There may be several months during which there is very little requirement for heat, while your home humidity may be very low. In fact there are arid regions across North America where the driest seasons within the home are during the summer. It may be 100F outside with a relative humidity below 10%. To cool down the air we use air conditioners, which draw moisture out of the air and lower the relative humidity within the home. To maintain a more constant humidity level year around, the humidifier should work independently, without the need for heat. Regulating humidity within the home is limited to periods when the furnace/central air system fan is running, and circulating air through the humidifier and into the home. We strongly recommend central air systems are operated year around. Many furnaces have fan speed settings. A slower fan speed may be used during periods when heat is not required.
